Our Story

Cal’s Moving & Storage started in 2018 when Calvin walked the halls of the SAE fraternity house at Oregon State University, knocking on doors and recruiting his fraternity brothers to help with local moves. What began as a college side hustle quickly grew — by the end of the first year, Calvin was assembling three to five crews a day during the busy season, all built from that same brotherhood and word-of-mouth trust.

From those early days loading trucks between classes and studying for finals, one principle never changed: treat every customer’s home as if it were your own. That founding belief — that every item matters and every family deserves five-star care — is still at the heart of everything we do today.

Our first HQ — down the street from SAE

Our first “headquarters” was a rented townhouse just down the street from the SAE house. Calvin set up a whiteboard on the wall to plan routes, stacked equipment in the garage, and ran the entire operation out of that small space. It wasn’t glamorous, but it was the launchpad for everything Cal’s Moving would become.

In those earliest days, Calvin didn’t even have a parking lot. Our first box truck — the one with “Cal’s Moving Help — Moving the Willamette Valley” painted on the side — was parked on the street near the National Guard building in Corvallis. Every morning started with a walk down the block to fire up the truck and get to work.

Calvin built up the Corvallis branch move by move, earning the trust of families and students across the Willamette Valley. As his fraternity brothers and friends began graduating from Oregon State, many joined the crew — and Cal’s started expanding north. Originally from Southwest Portland, Calvin always had a vision of building his way back home — and that’s exactly what he did.

We now operate four strategically located branches across Oregon — in Tigard, Beaverton, Corvallis, and Eugene — allowing us to serve the entire Willamette Valley corridor and Portland metro area with fast, reliable service. Our team of 50+ dedicated crew members and fleet of 15 modern, well-maintained trucks have completed over 10,000 moves to date, including more than 500 long-distance interstate relocations reaching every corner of the continental United States.

Every single member of our crew is trained according to American Moving Association standards and equipped with the most professional protection equipment available — furniture pads, custom dollies, floor runners, door frame protectors, and specialized crating for fragile items.
